Suture is something which holds the Tissue Surfaces of a Wound Permanently Untill they attaches to each other Permanently.

Fate of Suture-
1. Absorbable Suture : These sutures are used in inner surfaces of the body as they get dissolved in the body after a specific period of time.
2. Non Absorbable Suture - These sutures need to be removed manually, as they do not get absorbed in the body fluids.

Sources of Suture :
1. Natural Suture 
2. Synthetic Suture

2. Multifilament / Braided - These sutures are made up of more than One Filament.

2. Non Absorbale Suture :
(A) Monofilament : NYlon, Prolene, PVDF, Steel
(B) Multifilament : Polyester , Silk

Chromic Catgut : Brown
PDS : Grey
Silk : Light Blue
Prolene : Light Blue
Nylon : Green
Steel : Silver
Ethibond : orange
Vicryl : purple / Violet
